The News – CHITRAL: Local traders have launched a protest movement against suspension of power supply to Chitral for the past 15 days and continued their shutterdown strike for a sixth day on Wednesday.
Transporters also started a wheeljam strike against WAPDA which will continue till restoration of electricity supply.
The district Bar Association Chitral continued their boycott of courts on a second day on Wednesday as protest against Peshawar Electric Supply Company and students of colleges also visited the protest camp of traders and assured traders of their full support.
The main transmission line of 33KV snapped at Lowari top due to heavy snowfall. As a result the supply of electricity has been suspended for the past 15 days and people of Chitral are facing hardships.
They had informed the local administration and WAPDA that if power supply was not restored within three days, they would observe shutterdown strike for three days.
Since no action was taken, traders started a shutter down, earlier for three days from Feb 26 and later extended.
